Senior Product Manager - KYC Platform

Senior Product Manager — KYC Platform

Build the onboarding backbone that powers every credit product PayU Finance owns.

ABOUT PAYU FINANCE INDIA

PayU Finance India Limited is one of India's fastest-growing digital lending businesses, operating at the intersection of payments, credit, and technology. Through our flagship consumer product LazyPay and a rapidly expanding suite of merchant lending solutions, we serve millions of Indians with instant, responsible credit — making financial access simple, fair, and digital-first.

We are building the credit infrastructure for the next 500 million Indians. As a regulated NBFC backed by Prosus, one of the world's largest technology investors, we combine the agility of a startup with the governance of a regulated financial institution. Our teams solve hard problems in underwriting, platform engineering, compliance, and product — at scale, in real time.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Senior Product Manager for KYC Platform at PayU Finance, you will own the end-to-end Know Your Customer (KYC) infrastructure that underpins every lending product we operate — LazyPay consumer credit, merchant lending, BNPL, co-lending, and future lines of business. This is a platform role, not a product feature role. You will think in systems: designing scalable, partner-agnostic KYC journeys that can be configured, extended, and reused across business units. You will work closely with Compliance, Legal, Engineering, Data, and external partners including KYC bureaus, video-KYC vendors, DigiLocker, UIDAI, and banking correspondents. You will set the gold standard for compliant, frictionless onboarding at PayU Finance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Define and own the KYC Platform roadmap: design a modular, API-first KYC platform that serves all internal business units as internal consumers — eliminating duplication and enabling faster product launches.
  • Drive platform thinking: abstract KYC flows into reusable components (identity verification, liveness, document parsing, de-dup, risk flagging) and define clear platform contracts for product teams to build on.
  • Lead partner integration strategy: evaluate, onboard, and manage integrations with KYC vendors (CKYC, video-KYC, DigiLocker, UIDAI, PAN validation, face-match), negotiate SLAs, and own fallback logic.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into product specs: work alongside Compliance and Legal to convert RBI, PMLA, and FATF guidelines into product requirements — including re-KYC cycles, audit trail design, and data retention policies.
  • Build with data: define KYC funnel metrics, drop-off analytics, and fraud signals. Use data to reduce onboarding friction while maintaining regulatory thresholds. Continuously A/B test and iterate on the onboarding journey.
  • Enable developer experience: define clear API specifications, documentation, and sandbox environments so product and engineering teams across PayU Finance can self-serve on KYC without ad-hoc requests.
  • Plan for scale and longevity: architect KYC flows that can handle 10x volume, support new product lines (UPI credit, co-lending, embedded finance), and adapt to evolving RBI regulations without re-engineering from scratch.
  • Drive governance: own the KYC health dashboard — approval rates, STP rates, failure categorisation, re-KYC compliance, audit readiness — and present to senior leadership and regulators.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Platform product experience: 6–9 years in product management with at least 2–3 years owning a platform or infrastructure product — ideally in fintech, payments, or financial services.
  • Regulated entity experience: hands-on experience working within an RBI-regulated NBFC, bank, or payment aggregator — you understand what compliance means when there is a penalty for getting it wrong.
  • Technical depth: you can read API documentation, review a system design, and hold your own in an engineering discussion. You understand OAuth flows, webhook architectures, and data pipelines.
  • Data-driven mindset: you define success with metrics before you build. You are comfortable running SQL queries, interpreting funnel analytics, and building the business case from data.
  • Partner management: you have experience evaluating and onboarding third-party vendors, writing integration requirement documents, and managing SLA accountability.
  • Long-term systems thinking: you do not build for the next quarter — you design for the next three years. You document architectural decisions and think about backward compatibility, versioning, and deprecation.
  • Communication: you can write a one-pager that makes a compliance officer and an engineer agree on priorities. You communicate clearly, escalate appropriately, and drive alignment without authority.

GOOD TO HAVE

  • Experience in KYC/AML domain — CKYC, V-CIP, DigiLocker, UIDAI API integrations
  • Knowledge of lending workflows: loan origination, credit bureau pulls, underwriting triggers
  • Exposure to co-lending or white-label lending platforms
  • Familiarity with PMLA, RBI Master Directions on KYC (2016, as updated), and FATF guidelines
  • Experience with identity fraud detection, liveness check providers, or device intelligence
