About the Role

As Director - Sales in our Hunting Vertical, you will spearhead new business development initiatives and drive revenue growth through strategic client acquisition. This leadership role requires a seasoned sales professional who can navigate complex enterprise sales cycles while building and scaling high-performing sales processes. You'll be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and closing opportunities with medium to large enterprises, focusing on PayU's comprehensive suite of payment solutions. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to directly impact PayU's growth trajectory in one of our most important markets. The position is based in Mumbai and reports directly to senior sales leadership, with opportunities for career advancement within PayU's global organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies for new business acquisition within assigned market segments
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of enterprise prospects, ensuring consistent achievement of quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles from prospecting through contract negotiation and closure
  • Identify and penetrate new market segments and verticals to expand PayU's customer base
  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify emerging opportunities and competitive positioning
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships that drive mutual business growth
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers at target enterprise accounts
  • Serve as primary point of contact for strategic prospects, ensuring exceptional customer experience throughout the sales process
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet complex client requirements
  • Mentor and guide junior sales team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and performance excellence
  • Share best practices and contribute to the development of sales methodologies and processes
  • Represent PayU at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management using CRM systems
  • Provide regular reporting on sales activities, market feedback, and competitive intelligence
  • Analyze sales metrics to identify optimization opportunities and drive continuous improvement

 

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of progressive B2B sales experience, with minimum 4-5 years in senior sales roles (Associate Director/Director level)
  • Proven track record of consistently exceeding sales targets in enterprise software, fintech, or technology sectors
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex sales cycles (6-18 months) with deal sizes of ₹50L+ annually
  • Strong background in new business acquisition and hunting for net-new enterprise accounts
  • Deep understanding of payments, fintech, or related technology sectors preferred
  • Experience selling to enterprise clients across industries such as e-commerce, retail, BFSI, or SaaS
  • Familiarity with payment processing, digital transformation, or financial technology solutions
  • Knowledge of regulatory landscape and compliance requirements in Indian fintech market
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with ability to influence C-level executives
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities with data-driven decision-making approach
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Experience in team leadership, mentoring, and driving collaborative success
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Results-oriented with strong accountability and ownership mentality

  • MBA or equivalent from premier business school preferred
  • Based in Mumbai or willing to relocate
