About the Team

The Finance team at PayU India is a dynamic and growing organization that plays a critical role in supporting the company's rapid expansion and strategic initiatives. As part of the Group Financial Controller's organization, the Financial Reporting team leads the Control, Compliance, Audit, and Tax agenda across all group entities. Our team is responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and regulatory compliance as we scale our operations. We work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, and various business units to maintain the highest standards of financial integrity and transparency. The team is also actively involved in preparing the organization for significant milestones including IPO readiness.

 

About the Role

We are seeking a Director - Financial Reporting & Consolidation to join our India Business team in Mumbai. This role will provide strategic leadership for our consolidation and financial reporting functions, driving excellence in financial reporting while ensuring compliance with both global and local regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will report to the Group Financial Controller and will be responsible for building and scaling our financial reporting capabilities as the business grows. This position offers significant opportunity to shape complex accounting strategies, lead financial statement preparation initiatives, drive statutory compliance excellence, and implement enterprise-wide internal controls. The role involves leading relationships with multiple stakeholders including external auditors, senior management teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless financial operations and strategic reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and review of Quarterly and Annual Consolidated Financial Statements and Standalone Financial Statements for Group Companies to meet global and statutory requirements as per IFRS and Indian GAAP
  • Drive timely and accurate financial reporting excellence and manage comprehensive statutory audit processes
  • Lead accounting treatment decisions for new and complex transactions, including development of accounting policies and providing strategic guidance on accounting & reporting matters across the Group
  • Drive the comprehensive revamping of Financial Statements and processes to ensure IPO readiness and regulatory compliance
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure compliance within expected timelines
  • Lead the development and implementation of process documentation and Risk Control Matrix (RCM) for all Group Companies for IFC/ICFR Compliance
  • Oversee IFC/ICFR compliance programs and ensure timely remediation of identified gaps through strategic action plans
  • Direct control testing activities and provide strategic guidance to internal audit teams
  • Lead presentations to Audit Committee on critical Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Controls matters
  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls framework
  • Lead collaboration with Company Secretary team for Board Meetings, Annual General Meetings, MCA forms and filings
  • Drive strategic projects related to business development and transformation of finance processes
  • Lead strategic initiatives around legal entity structure changes and business restructuring
  • Champion opportunities for process automation and digitization of financial reporting processes
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing financial reporting team
  • Drive cross-functional partnerships with business units to support strategic decision-making
  • Lead budget planning and resource allocation for the financial reporting function

 


Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in financial reporting, accounting, and compliance, preferably in fintech, banking, or technology companies
  • CA/CPA/ACCA qualification or equivalent professional accounting certification
  • Extensive experience in digital payments, fintech, or technology sector preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Indian GAAP, IFRS, and US GAAP with proven application in complex scenarios
  • Comprehensive understanding of Indian regulatory requirements including Companies Act, FEMA, RBI guidelines, and listing regulations
  • Proven experience leading SOX compliance, internal financial controls (IFC), and enterprise risk management frameworks
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle preferred), financial reporting tools, and process automation technologies
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills in English and Hindi with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with external auditors, regulators, and C-level executives
  • Proven track record of leading multiple strategic projects simultaneously with competing priorities
  • Strong people leadership experience with ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing teams
  • Experience driving organizational change and process transformation initiatives
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing changing strategic priorities
  • Exceptional ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality at the highest levels
  • Strategic mindset with proactive approach to anticipating regulatory changes and industry best practices
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and build strong business partnerships across different geographies
  • Experience with IPO preparation or other major corporate transactions preferred
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to provide strategic financial insights to business leaders
