As a Senior manager, you'll be mentoring junior team members, and collaborating with senior leadership on strategic financial operations decisions.
About the Role:
Lead our elite Financial Operations team at PayU Payments and drive strategic financial excellence across India's premier digital payment ecosystem. Our Financial Operations team stands at the forefront of PayU's operational success, managing complex reconciliation processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the integrity of financial operations across multiple payment channels. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Manager - Financial Operations to join our high-impact team in Gurgaon, where you'll collaborate with top-tier professionals in finance, technology, and compliance to oversee advanced reconciliation frameworks, lead automation initiatives, and establish best-in-class financial operations standards while ensuring full compliance with RBI guidelines and driving continuous process optimization.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Team Leadership & Financial Operations:
• Lead and strategically develop a team of 12-15 professionals across multiple reconciliation verticals
• Oversee complex daily reconciliation of transactions, reports, and funds across all payment channels
• Drive comprehensive escrow accounts management strategy in accordance with RBI guidelines on Payment Aggregators (PA), Payment Aggregator Cross Border (PA-CB), and Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS)
• Manage sophisticated 3-way reconciliation frameworks for UPI transactions (Switch/CBS/NPCI)
• Oversee reconciliation operations for all card networks including RuPay, Visa, and Mastercard
• Establish and monitor advanced bank reconciliation processes for all escrow accounts
• Ensure optimal settlement timing and fund availability from all issuer banks
Regulatory Compliance & Strategic Reporting:
• Prepare and submit critical Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual reports as per RBI Master Direction for PA, PA-CB, and BBPS
• Lead regulatory compliance initiatives and maintain relationships with RBI and other regulatory bodies
• Coordinate with statutory auditors and drive comprehensive audit processes
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks and deviations in reconciliation processes
• Establish governance frameworks for financial operations and compliance monitoring
Process Innovation & Refund Management:
• Drive end-to-end refund process optimization and manage harmonization TAT (Turnaround Time)
• Maintain and publish sophisticated MIS reports for executive leadership and external stakeholders
• Lead large-scale process improvements and automation initiatives
• Coordinate strategic projects with technology teams for system automation and advanced reporting tools
• Implement industry-leading best practices in financial operations and reconciliation processes
• Establish KPIs and SLAs for all financial operations processes
Senior Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership:
• Manage high-level relationships with banks, merchants, and senior cross-functional teams
• Lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders at executive levels
• Drive strategic partnerships with payment networks and financial institutions
• Represent Financial Operations in company-wide strategic initiatives
• Facilitate complex dispute resolution processes with payment networks and regulatory bodies
• Mentor and develop team members for career advancement and succession planning
Requirements:
Educational Background:
• Postgraduate degree (MBA/M.Com/CA/CFA) preferably in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Professional certifications in Finance/Risk Management preferred
Senior Professional Experience:
• 10-13 years of experience in financial operations, payment processing, and reconciliation
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in senior team management and strategic leadership
• Deep expertise in RBI guidelines for Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways (PA/PG)
• Extensive hands-on experience with payment gateways, escrow management, and complex dispute resolution
• Strong background in Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI) business, advanced reconciliation, and settlement processes
• Comprehensive experience working with multiple card networks (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay) and UPI ecosystem
• Demonstrated experience in managing statutory audits and regulatory relationships
Strategic Leadership & Management:
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop large teams (10+ professionals)
• Experience in strategic planning, budget management, and resource allocation
• Strong experience in change management and large-scale process transformation
• Demonstrated success in stakeholder management at executive levels
• Experience in driving automation initiatives and technology partnerships
Advanced Technical Skills:
• Expert-level proficiency in MS Office suite with advanced Excel modeling and automation capabilities
• Experience with advanced financial reconciliation tools and enterprise payment processing systems
• Deep knowledge of banking operations, settlement processes, and regulatory frameworks
• Familiarity with data analytics tools and business intelligence platforms
• Understanding of API integrations and technical reconciliation frameworks
