Our Financial Operations team represents the pinnacle of operational sophistication, driving enterprise-wide financial strategy, regulatory leadership, and operational transformation across all payment verticals. We are seeking a visionary Associate Director - Financial Operations to join our executive team in Gurgaon, where you'll lead a comprehensive organization of finance professionals, technology specialists, and compliance experts to establish industry-leading reconciliation frameworks, drive strategic automation initiatives, influence regulatory policy, and maintain PayU's position as the benchmark for financial operations excellence while ensuring seamless compliance with evolving RBI guidelines and spearheading next-generation operational innovations.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Team Leadership & Financial Operations:
• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for a department of 18-25 senior professionals across all reconciliation verticals
• Drive enterprise-wide reconciliation strategy for transactions, reports, and funds across all payment channels and business verticals
• Establish strategic frameworks for comprehensive escrow accounts management aligned with evolving RBI guidelines on Payment Aggregators (PA), Payment Aggregator Cross Border (PA-CB), and Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS)
• Architect sophisticated 3-way reconciliation ecosystems for UPI transactions (Switch/CBS/NPCI) with predictive analytics
• Lead strategic oversight of reconciliation operations for all card networks including RuPay, Visa, Mastercard, and emerging payment methods
• Drive comprehensive bank reconciliation strategy for all escrow accounts with risk-based monitoring frameworks
• Ensure strategic settlement optimization and fund availability management across all issuer banks and financial partners
Regulatory Compliance & Strategic Reporting:
• Lead preparation and strategic oversight of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual reports as per RBI Master Direction for PA, PA-CB, and BBPS
• **Manage RBI Audits and Regulatory Audits** - serve as primary liaison with regulatory bodies and audit teams
• Drive strategic regulatory compliance initiatives and maintain executive-level relationships with RBI and regulatory authorities
• Lead comprehensive audit strategy and coordinate with statutory auditors across all business verticals
• Establish enterprise-wide governance frameworks for risk identification and mitigation in reconciliation processes
• Influence regulatory policy development and represent PayU in industry regulatory forums
Strategic Process Innovation & Refund Management:
• Drive end-to-end strategic transformation of refund processes and optimize harmonization TAT across all business lines
• Establish and maintain sophisticated MIS reporting frameworks for board-level and regulatory stakeholders
• Lead enterprise-wide process automation and digital transformation initiatives
• Drive strategic partnerships with technology teams for advanced system automation, AI integration, and next-generation reporting platforms
• Establish industry-leading best practices and operational excellence standards
• Define strategic KPIs, SLAs, and operational metrics for financial operations across PayU ecosystem
Senior Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership:
• Manage strategic relationships with senior bank executives, key merchants, and C-level cross-functional teams
• Lead high-level collaboration with internal and external stakeholders at board and executive levels
• Drive strategic partnerships with payment networks, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies
• Represent PayU in industry forums, regulatory committees, and strategic fintech initiatives
• Lead complex dispute resolution and escalation management with payment networks and regulatory authorities
• Provide executive mentorship and succession planning for senior team members
Requirements:
Educational Background:
• Postgraduate degree (MBA/M.Com/CA/CFA) preferably in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Professional certifications in Finance/Risk Management/Regulatory Compliance highly preferred
• Executive education or leadership development programs preferred
Senior Professional Experience:
• 13-15+ years of comprehensive experience in financial operations, payment processing, and regulatory compliance
• Minimum 7-8 years of proven experience in senior leadership roles with P&L responsibility
• Deep strategic expertise in RBI guidelines, regulatory frameworks, and payment industry evolution
• Extensive experience in managing RBI audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance assessments
• Comprehensive hands-on experience with enterprise payment gateways, complex escrow management, and strategic dispute resolution
• Strong background in large-scale PPI business operations, advanced reconciliation frameworks, and settlement optimization
• Demonstrated experience in strategic partnerships with multiple card networks, UPI ecosystem, and emerging payment technologies
Strategic Leadership & Management:
• Proven ability to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for large departments (15+ senior professionals)
• Experience in enterprise-level strategic planning, budget management, and resource allocation across multiple verticals
• Strong track record in organizational transformation, change management, and operational excellence initiatives
• Demonstrated success in executive-level stakeholder management and board-level reporting
• Experience in driving large-scale automation initiatives, technology partnerships, and digital transformation
Advanced Technical Skills:
• Expert-level proficiency in advanced analytics, enterprise reporting tools, and strategic financial modeling
• Deep understanding of enterprise payment processing systems, regulatory technology, and compliance platforms
• Comprehensive knowledge of banking operations, international settlement frameworks, and regulatory requirements
• Experience with AI/ML applications in financial operations, predictive analytics, and automation platforms
• Understanding of enterprise architecture, API ecosystems, and advanced reconciliation technologies
