The team operates as a crucial Technology Service Provider (TSP) to payments players, including PPI issuers, ensuring comprehensive regulatory management and compliance across all technological solutions and services.
The Compliance function plays a pivotal role within PayU Digital Labs, serving as the cornerstone for regulatory adherence and risk management. Our compliance team works closely with legal, risk, cyber security, and operations teams to maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance across all business operations. The function is responsible for developing and implementing robust compliance frameworks, conducting regular testing and monitoring activities, and ensuring seamless coordination with regulatory bodies including RBI, NPCI, and major card networks. As PayU Digital expands its technological services to financial institutions, the compliance team ensures that all solutions meet stringent regulatory requirements while supporting business growth objectives.
About the Role
We are seeking a P5 Senior Lead - Compliance to join our team in Bengaluru. This critical position will serve as the key compliance stakeholder responsible for handling comprehensive Compliance Testing and Monitoring of technological services provided by PayU Digital. The Compliance Testing and Monitoring Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), NPCI, card networks (Rupay, Visa, Mastercard), and other relevant authorities, while managing end-to-end regulatory compliance for our role as a Technology Service Provider.
Responsibilities:
Compliance Testing
- Upgrade and implement a risk-based compliance testing framework for solutions and services provided to banks, payment players (including PPI issuers), aligned with regulatory guidelines
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and testing of processes, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Identify gaps, risks, and potential non-compliance issues and assess their operational impact
- Provide structured reports with findings, root-cause analysis, and recommended corrective actions
Monitoring Activities
- Develop and execute ongoing monitoring calendar to track compliance with regulatory obligations and internal requirements
- Monitor key processes related to critical compliance requirements
- Track updates and changes in RBI, NPCI, card networks' and other applicable regulatory guidelines
- Coordinate with Card Networks (VISA/MasterCard/Rupay) regarding compliance requirements
Remediation and Follow-ups
- Collaborate with business teams to resolve identified compliance gaps within set timelines
- Follow up on action plans and track implementation of mitigation measures
Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with legal, risk, cyber security, and operations teams for regulatory compliance
- Support senior management with updates on emerging compliance issues and mitigation steps
- Ensure operational Chinese walls are properly implemented and monitored
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare detailed compliance testing and monitoring reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory audits
- Maintain documentation on compliance processes, ongoing controls, and test results
- Provide regular updates to the Compliance Committee on testing outcomes and regulatory risks
Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Legal, Secretarial, Finance, Risk Management, or related field
- Approximately 10-12 years of compliance experience in compliance, compliance testing, risk, or audit roles within payments, fintech, or financial services sectors
- Additional qualifications in AML and fraud risk management (preferred)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of regulatory guidelines applicable to fintech/payments industry in India and internationally
- Experience in executing compliance assurance frameworks or conducting audits
- Proficiency in data-driven monitoring tools and risk identification methodologies
- Excellent analytical, report-writing, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments
- Independent working style with experience in international, dynamic, and diverse environments
